CEE Story From The Mission Field

A Vision of Christ

April 29, 2005

In the latest monthly bulletin of Open Doors, the story of an Armenian woman was told. She lay dying in the hospital when her doctors discharged her so that she could die at home. She was a Christian, at least in name, but her faith never meant much to her. One day, she suffered an attack of self-pity while lying in bed waiting for her Muslim neighbors to visit. Her gaze wandered to a picture of Jesus on her wall.

“Why don't you help me?” she complained.

Suddenly, Jesus started speaking. Somehow, he appeared in her room. “I've been wanting to come to you, but you never invited me,” he said. He touched her softly, and the woman gave him her life.

Right then, there came a knock at the door - the Muslim neighbor and his wife had come. As they came into the room, they sensed that something was different. The room was still filled with the glory of Jesus' presence. They both fell to their knees, and the Armenian woman told them what had happened. The couple was so shocked that they both gave their lives to Jesus. Since then, nine of the husband's employees have also been saved.

This sort of phenomenal movement of God among Muslim people groups, though fantastic, is not unusual. He is using dreams, visions, and healings to make Himself known.

Armenians are one of the people groups of CEE. They, like many others, span across geographical borders. Outside of their own country, they reside in significant numbers in Georgia, Iran, Lebanon and the United States. In CEE, they are currently one of the most responsive people groups to the gospel. Pray with us that Jesus will reveal Himself to Armenians, wherever they live. We want to see a movement of Armenians to Christ and multiplying Armenian churches throughout Armenia and the world.
